Employee Guidelines | Coronavirus Information

With the community's support, Mt. San Antonio College can continue to provide classes and services through the pandemic.  Student guidelines may be different and can be viewed in the Student Guidelines page.

Employee Requirements

      COVID-19 Vaccines are Strongly Encouraged, But Not Required

      COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free. They are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Booster doses should be taken 5 months after the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 2 months after a Johnson & Johnson dose. Individuals can choose which vaccine to receive as a booster dose. Learn more through the Los Angeles County Public Health vaccine website. Appointments for a vaccination or booster dose can be made at https://myturn.ca.gov as well as through major pharmacy chains.   

      Off-Site Employees

      Employees who work off-site must adhere to the COVID-19 rules and regulations established by that location.

      Face Coverings Encouraged

      Mt. SAC follows public health requirements, Cal/OSHA workplace safety guidelines, as well as agreements with employee bargaining units. Face coverings are recommended indoors, but not generally required. Some facilities or situations may require face coverings, such as when visiting the Student Health Center.

      Rapid Antigen Tests Available

      • WHO: All on-campus employees and students can pick-up a free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test on campus.
      • HOW: Visit the front desk in Human Resources (Building 4-1460), Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

      Handling COVID-19 Symptoms and Exposure

      STAY HOME IF SICK: As a reminder, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home. COVID-19 symptoms include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, sneezing, nausea, diarrhea, and so on.

      FILL OUT A HEALTH CHECK: To report symptoms or exposure to COVID-19, fill out an Employee Health Check Form. This form is critical to trigger a campus response from Contract Tracers, Public Safety, Custodial Services and more. Employees should also notify their managers.

      ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE: Work with our Contact Tracing Department if you have questions or concerns about your isolation and quarantine requirements. Mt. SAC follows guidelines from LA County Public Health as well as Cal/OSHA.  Isolation keeps someone who is sick or tested positive for COVID-19 without symptoms away from others. In Los Angeles County, if you have COVID-19, you must: (1) isolate yourself, (2) wear a mask indoors and outdoors) and (3) tell your close contacts they have been exposed and need to follow instructions for close contacts. Learn more about Isolation guidelines Los Angeles County public health.  Quarantine is used to keep someone who has been exposed to a person with COVID-19 away from others. They are sometimes called close contacts. Quarantine helps prevent the spread of disease before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms. It's important for employees to follow Contact Tracing's instructions as they must also follow Cal/OSHA workplace requirements.

      Request Forms for PPE and Face Coverings

      Mt. SAC is providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for employees to use during Mt. SAC business, such as running a class or working on campus.

      Classes and Offices have already been stocked with safety kits. Additional kits are available through Division Offices. Managers may use this Online PPE Request Form to contact the Risk Management Office for additional supplies.

      The College will provide N95 respirators in two scenarios: (1) to any unvaccinated employee who works with others indoors or in a vehicle and who requests one and (2) where there is a major outbreak, to any employees in the exposed group for voluntary use. The respirator must be the right size, and the employee should follow the information on Page 16 of the Return to Work Guide (provided above) for instruction on how to get a good “seal,” or fit. Employees may request an N-95 mask through the Online PPE Request Form.

      Mandatory Training Before Coming to Campus


      Employees working on campus should review the college’s Return to Work Guide before coming to campus. It is available in the links on this page. 

      Due to the serious threats related to COVID-19, Mt. SAC is requiring all employees that work on campus to take training related to the coronavirus. This training has been mandated by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Managers have been asked to assign three training videos to all employees: (1) Coronavirus Awareness; (2) Coronavirus: Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Workplace; and (3) Coronavirus: Reopening Your Organization. These training videos about 30 minutes to view. Employees can also find these training videos through POD Connect at www.mtsac.edu/pod.

      Marketing & Communication developed COVID-19 signage that clings to door entrances and can be posted inside entrances.

      • POSTERS - Digital Downloads are available on the Marketing website at www.mtsac.edu/marketing. 
      • Poster Displays will be distributed across campus as they come in, prioritizing areas with in-person classes. Due to the supply shortage, these will be slowly distributed across campus as soon as they are available.
