Wildlife Sanctuary Tours
The Wildlife Sanctuary is a 26-acre outdoor classroom and preserve containing diverse ecosystems that are home to local plants and animal habitats inside the sanctuary, including coastal sage scrub, chaparral, oak woodland, walnut woodland, grassland, and three freshwater ponds. There is also a natural stream that flows year-round and runs through the center of the sanctuary. These habitats contain some of the native trees, shrubs, and flowers which once grew in abundance in the San Gabriel Valley but have since declined due to human development. Visitors and students can observe local plants and animals in their native habitats and experience the ecology of the area.
The Wildlife Sanctuary is not open to the public, but free tours are provided by reservation. Tours of the Mt. SAC Wildlife Sanctuary are approximately one hour in length and are available for groups of up to 30 individuals (including teachers or parents). Please make your reservation at least three weeks in advance by clicking on the link below and completing the Smartsheet Form.

Farm Tours
Agriculture is a thriving business in California, which is why Mt. SAC has incredible agriculture, farming, horticulture, and animal care programs for students. To support these programs, we have a 250-acre farm on campus next to our Agricultural Sciences building. The farm is also surrounded by our Veterinary Building, Swine Care Facility, Livestock Pavilion, and Equipment Barn.
Tours of our farm and surrounding facilities are great for prospective students interested in agriculture or animal care, school field trips, or group outings. The tour is a 1-hour, guided walking tour, and we can accommodate up to 35 people per tour. Each tour is unique and can include such animals as sheep, pigs, cattle, and horses.
Tours are offered at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, or 1pm but are appointment only. Tours can be arranged Tuesday through Thursday during the Fall and Spring semesters. We ask that you schedule your tour at least 2 week in advance. Tours are provided at no cost, but donations are appreciated. You can arrange a tour by clicking below.
Agricultural Literacy Trail:
You may also tour the farm both online and in person. You can learn about anything from irrigation, to tractors, to cows and much more. No other place in the Western United States will be able to provide you this unique experience. Please feel welcome to tour different areas of our farm at your convenience.
