Employee Responsibility

Title IX and the Clery Act prohibit gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, stalking, dating violence, and/or domestic violence. Any of the prohibited acts are considered unwelcomed conduct.

• • Who needs to report unwelcomed conduct?

    Employees who know or have reason to know of unwelcomed sexual conduct must report it to the Title IX Coordinator. Employees are required to disclose all information, including the names of the parties, even when a party requests anonymity, to the Title IX Coordinator, Ryan Wilson.

    According to BP 3540 Sexual Misconduct, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Stalking, Responsible Employees are designated employees who have the authority to take action to redress sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking; who have been given the duty of reporting incidents of sexual violence or any other misconduct by students to the Title IX Coordinator or other appropriate school designee; or whom an individual could reasonably believe has this authority or duty. At the College that includes:

    • Classified Managers
    • Educational Administrators
    • Faculty
    • Campus Safety employees
    • Student Services employees, including: Counselors, Education Advisors, Transfer Specialists, Program Coordinators, Program/Project Coordinators, Program Specialists, Outreach Specialists, Interpreters, Peer Advisors, Ambassadors, Mentors, Tutors, and Student Life employees
    • Human Resources employees
    • Kinesiology, Athletics, & Dance employees
    • Any employee who serves as an advisor to student organizations and/or travels with students for educational or extracurricular purposes

  • Here is how you can help

    If someone tells you that they have experienced unwelcomed conduct, here is how you can help :

    1. If someone tells you that they or someone they know has experienced unwelcome conduct, offer support and encourage them to seek help as soon as possible.
    2. Provide the person who experienced the unwelcomed conduct with a Mt. SAC Title IX brochure, or the link to the Human Resources Title IX web page.
    3. Health and Safety are the primary concerns:
       1. If safety is at risk, call Police & Campus Safety at (909) 274-4555.
       2. If health is at risk call 9-1-1 or call Student Health Services at (909) 274-4400
    4. Contact one of the following:

    • “There are many resources available on campus and in the community to help you take care of your physical and emotional well-being.”
    • “I can connect you to medical emergency services for medical support, some of which are free of charge.”
    • “I can connect you to a confidential resource.”

    • “I can connect you with the Title IX Coordinator who can talk to you about resources, reporting options, and interim measures of campus support.”
    • “You have the right to understand all available options and make an informed decision.”
    • “I cannot keep this information confidential. I need to forward this information to someone who can help you and respond. That person will give you information and options to help you going forward.”

Ryan Wilson is the designated Title IX Coordinator for Mt. San Antonio College.  The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for handling complaints related to Title IX, including discrimination based on sex, gender, and sexual misconduct.
