Animal Welfare

Ozzie & Friends Rescue - Rowland Heights, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  We are a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) adoption dog rescue dedicated to placing homeless dogs in good homes! We are committed to training, rehabilitating, vetting and promoting them at various events!
 
Volunteers in Defense of Animals - La Puente, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 4-5 dogs and cats each week and rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and even dogs from Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already.

MISSION STATEMENT:  We aspire to cultivate community life, friendships, and social justice; educate health and sustainability for people and places; and preserve agricultural lands and organic ways of growing food.  We are a real, working polycultural farm focusing on sustainable, organic methods to farming. We provide fresh produce to our local community.  We offer education with hands-on, guided tours to visitors of all ages through our educational 501c3 non-profit organization.

Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board - Ontario, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  We are a values-based, dynamic organization expanding our reach by facilitating and promoting the general well-being of people through research, education, advocacy, counseling, and housing.  Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board [IFHMB] is a private non-profit agency that serves as an intermediary to resolve issues related to housing discrimination, homeownership and housing sustainability, rental complaints, and disputes in court, with the goal of empowering individuals and enriching the communities it serves.

MISSION STATEMENT:  Our mission is to develop in children and adults an appreciation of the natural world, and to preserve Eaton Canyon as a natural area for future generations.

Charter Hospital of San Gabriel Valley - Covina, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  To provide the most meaningful and comfortable experience to our patients and their families during the end of life journey. Volunteers remain the heart of hospice providing companionship and care to patients. Volunteers listen to patients when they wish to share their life experience, and this gives patients a chance to reflect on the meaningful moments that gave their life purpose. In an attempt to spare family members’ sadness, patients will sometimes speak openly to a volunteer, providing the patient a safe person to share their feelings with.
 
Foothill Family Shelter - Upland, CA

Homelessness & Food Insecurity

Claremont Homeless Advocacy Program - Claremont, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  CHAP is a grassroots, all-volunteer group that seeks to end homelessness in Claremont, California, by advocating for and supporting homeless adult individuals within the community.
 
Claremont Meals on Wheels - Claremont, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  Since 1973, Claremont Meals on Wheels has operated as a private, nonprofit, all-volunteer organization and community service. We deliver nutritious, hot mid-day meals Monday through Friday (with Saturday meal, if ordered) to older homebound adults, persons with disabilities, those recovering from surgery, and other persons who have no alternative source of meals.
 
Elim Community Food Pantry - Covina, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  Elim Community Food Pantry is a vocal advocate for the hungry and displaced. We put into action the call to feed those in need.  We are a food pantry serving our community within the San Gabriel Valley for the past 4 years. We are here to be of service to our clients that come to our facility in Covina on a weekly basis. We provide approximately 30 lbs. of staple foods including both non-perishables and fresh produce.
 
Food Finders - Various Locations
MISSION STATEMENT:  To eliminate food waste while improving nutrition in food insecure communities.  Food Finders is a food rescue organization serving Los Angeles and Orange county. We work with food donors big and small to rescue food and deliver it to over 300 non-profit partnering agencies. In 2014 we provide enough food for 6,475,560 meals! Not only are we providing meals and keeping good wholesome food out of landfills, we are reducing the production of harmful green house gases.

School on Wheels - Various Locations
MISSION STATEMENT:  The mission of School on Wheels is to enhance educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our goal is to shrink the gaps in their education and provide them with the highest level of education possible. Our program serves as a consistent support system to homeless students at a time of great stress and fear. We bring the message to our students that they are cared about and important.
 
Shepherd's Pantry - Glendora, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  Provide emergency food, clothing and emotional support to families in need in times of crisis; provide the tools and resources to help families become self sufficient.

Latino Art Museum - Pomona, CA
MISSION STATEMENT:  The Latino Art Museum is a non-profit organization created to promote the works of talented Latin American artists living in the United States. We strive to instill a sense of appreciation for Latino art in the minds and hearts of children and adults. We offer Bilingual Spanish and English education and exhibition programs to encourage children and adults to experience, understand and appreciate contemporary Latin American Art.
