Who We Are

 The Arise program provides assistance to Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students looking for a place to belong in Mt. SAC’s huge campus community.

We were searching for ideas on how to provide AANHPI students better support and find ways to Arise out of the many AANHPI stereotypes to fulfill their potential. In the Arise Program, we understand that it truly "takes a village" especially when it comes to meeting one's academic goals. With the help of the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI), $2-million, five-year federal grant program, Arise was created in Fall 2011 and we continue to create programming, provide support and connect our AANHPI students to the many resources needed to successfully complete their educational goals.

Our Arise team works together to serve, provide, inspire, and learn from students; and we love what we do.  We have activities, events, workshops, educational field trips, tutoring, study hall, etc., to keep you engaged. 

Our goal is to have you join our Arise family. We believe that once you have the support of family and a sense of belonging, the more likely you are to accomplish your goals.  Let us be your "village" to help you get to wherever it is that you want to be.

Drop by our office and you’ll find students from all walks of life.  Our students will make you feel welcomed and at home. 

If you are looking for a place to study, meet new people, make new friends, or need help with writing or math, Arise is here to help. We have an educational advisor, counselors, tutors, and a culturally-affirming space and events just for you.
