About Us
TRIO Upward Bound is a federal program that was established by Congress to help students overcome class, social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education. The program is funded by a grant ($237,438 per year) from the U.S. Department of Education. The Mt. San Antonio College TRIO Upward Bound Program is designed to assist high school students from Ganesha High School and La Puente High School who are low-income and/or first generation (Student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree) to pursue and obtain an education at an institution of higher learning. Upward Bound services place emphasis on the development of personal and academic success through the creation of activities during the high school academic year and the Summer Enrichment Program. Through our services such as Academic Tutoring, Academic Advising, Saturday Success Academy and other programs participants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their educational goals and ultimately to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
