Our community education classes can help you get fit - or stay fit - including fitness memberships and lap swim. 

  • Exercise Science Wellness Center (ESWC) Fitness Memberships

    The Exercise Science Wellness Center offers a variety of activities for all fitness levels. No previous experience is required to attend. We offer individual and group training activities , weight training machines, cable machines, TRX suspension, Dumbbells, and Cardiovascular machines to establish a healthy lifestyle.
     
    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon successful completion of the class, students will be able to:

    •  Learn scientific principles of exercise and physical conditioning, techniques of strength training, and methods appropriate to establishing healthy behavior.
    • Build muscle and increase strength, by using weight training machines, cables, TRX suspension, or Dumbbells
    • Improve overall cardiovascular health by slowly progressing to different levels of cardiovascular activities like walking, jogging, cycling or attending a Group Fitness Class.

     

    PARKING REGULATIONS:

    • Valid parking permits are required.  Parking regulations are enforced in all lots 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Permits are valid only in student lots. Violators will be cited.
    • DAY-USE Parking Permit:  $5 Dispenser available on Bonita Drive, just south of Temple Avenue. Day-use permits are good for the date of purchase only, and they will allow persons to park their vehicles in any student parking lot. Day-use parking permits are not valid in metered parking stalls or pay lots.Metered Parking Spaces are also available throughout the campus (15 min. for $.25).

  • ESWC Fitness Testing

    3-Site Skin Fold Measurement

    Skinfold measurement is a technique to estimate how much fat is on the body using a caliper to gather the skin and underlying fat. 

    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

    • Interpret skinfold measurement results and provide meaningful insights.

     

    Fitness Testing Base Line Assessment

    This assessment measures and evaluates the general fitness of an individual.

    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

    • Interpret their fitness assessment results and provide meaningful insights.

     

    Hydrostatic Weighing

    Test your body composition using skin fold, hydrostatic bioelectric impedance.

    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

    • Accurately measure body composition using hydrostatic bioelectric impedance.
    • Interpret body composition results and provide meaningful insights.

     

    Resting Metabolic Rate

    Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) indicates the total number of calories burned when your body is at rest. RMR supports breathing, circulating blood, organ functions, and basic neurological functions. 

    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

    • Interpret RMR results and provide meaningful insights.

  • Swim Programs

    Open Fitness Swim (14 Years +)

    Open Fitness Swim is a self-paced swimming opportunity to enjoy our great pool (no swim instruction is provided during these hours). Open fitness swim provides pool time for individuals seeking to improve/maintain their swimming abilities as well as non-instructed lap swimming. For those interested in:

    • Casual lap swimming
    • Masters swimming (peer group training)
    • Open water training techniques
    • Swim training for the triathlete
    • Weight loss through water exercise
    • Low impact strength and endurance training

    This course falls under the Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcome (ILO).

    Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

    • Enhance their swimming abilities through self-paced practice.
    • Tailor their swimming practice to their specific fitness goals.
    • Engage in lap swimming for health and fitness benefits.

    1 Day Swim Card

    Swim cards are used on a per visit basis.  Every entry to the pool accounts for a session.  Swim cards may be used for Fitness Swimming as well as Training Groups. You can pay for your cards online 24/7 or in our office during office hours in Building 40, Room 101.  Please note:

    • If you come and purchase the card in our office, the card will be issued on the pool deck to you with a proof of registration.
    • If you pay online, you can pick up your card on the pool deck with a printed confirmation receipt.
