WHAT IS THE NASSSP GRANT?

American Indian and Alaskan Native Student Success
 
PURPOSE OF THE GRANT:
  1. To strengthen  K-12 pathways to and through the California Community College System for Native American Students, including student transfer to the University of California and California University Systems.
  2. To ensure the educational success of Native American leaders.
  3. To develop Native American leaders.
  4. To increase the number of Native American mentors to empower future generations.
IMPLEMENTING NASSSP Grant AT MT. SAC:
  • Mount San Antonio College was of 20 community colleges statewide to receive grant funding. Using the 1.5 million grant over a 5 year span, the college will establish a local Native American Student Support and Success Program (NASSSP) to provide all of the following services to support our Native American Students.
      • Develop a cohort model.
      • Integrate peer mentorship with our Student Success Services.
      • Integrate faculty and staff professional development training.
