General Education 2021-2022
The courses listed below will fulfill the lower division general education requirements for all CSU campuses.
California State University (CSU) Upper Division Transfer Requirements:
Students are eligible for upper division admission with completion of 60 CSU transferable units that include:
- A minimum of 30 lower division units of general education courses with grades of C- or better
- Courses from general education areas A1, A2, A3 and B4 with a grade of C- or better. Please note: a grade of C or higher is required in areas A2 and B4 to earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T and AS-T). C- is not acceptable.
- 2.0 CSU transferable GPA (This is the minimum GPA for consideration; many campuses/majors are competitive and may require a higher GPA for admission.)
Students must be in good standing at the last college or university attended.
CSU General Education Notes
- Courses on this list have been approved by the CSU Office of the Chancellor for Fall 2021 and beyond. If a course was completed prior to approval, it cannot be certified for CSU General Education Breadth requirements.
- Some majors require specific general education courses. Students planning to transfer are advised to plan their schedules carefully in order to maintain progress.

Courses are pending approval. Students who enrolled at Mt. SAC or another California Community College or California State University prior to Fall 2021 have maintained continuous enrollment do not need to complete Area F, but they do need an additional course for Area D. Students starting Fall 2021 or later should check with the Mt. SAC Counseling Department or the Transfer Center in June 2022 to identify approved Mt. SAC Area F Ethnic Studies Courses.
