The college's Introduction to Computer Information Technology certificate is only 9 units (3 courses). It is designed to prepare students for careers that require the understanding and use of computer technology. The certificate offers a balanced set of classes that enables students to become proficient with business software such as Word, Excel and Access; implement security techniques to protect computer systems from malware, maintain a computer using utility programs, and create web sites. According to U.S. Department of Labor data, the average salary of people who eventually specialize in computer systems technology is between $47,700 and $80,000 a year and computer networking technology is between $54,700 and $93,700.
