Welcome
The Mt. SAC Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology program prepares students for a high paying career in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration through a two-year associate of science degree or a certificate that leads to occupations in design, manufacturing, operations, sales, distribution, installation, maintenance and repair.
Students gain valuable classroom knowledge and hands-on experience in troubleshooting refrigerant handling, welding, mechanical and electrical operation, as well as building automation. Classes are offered days and evenings and are structured to give students the opportunity to seek industry employment in as little as one academic year. For students requiring additional experience, a work-study component is also offered. Here are even more reasons to choose our program:
Our mission statement: To provide quality education and training to a diverse student population, ranging from entry level students to incumbent workers, so they obtain the necessary skills to be prepared in the sustainable industries of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Building Automation Systems.
Pathways
Top Notch Facilities
We have a 5,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art mechanical lab equipped with most relevant and expensive refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and technology. Most of our courses are a combination of 50 percent lecture and 50 percent hands-on demonstrations and lab exercises.
Work with Professionals
At the end of each academic year, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate to industry professionals what they've learned in the lab facilities. Many students are then interviewed and chosen for industry internship opportunities.
