Health Careers Resource Center (HCRC)

The mission of the Health Careers Resource Center is to support all healthcare students with their educational goals by providing a positive learning environment and by reinforcing the acquisition of psychomotor skills. The HCRC actively supports equal opportunity, open access, and high academic standards.
Programs
The HCRC is available to the following health career programs:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Personal Care Aide (PCA)

Inside the Sim Lab

The Sim Lab is setup like a hospital unit and each bedside has working equipment such as hospital beds, monitors, whiteboard, headwalls with simulated oxygen and suction to create an environment of realism.

The students can gain experience in utilizing a wide range of case scenarios. The students have the ability performs skills, such as vital signs, NGT placement, urinary catheter placement, assessment of breath sounds and heart sounds, IV access, and a head-to-toe assessment. By incorporating simulation into the courses, it allows the students to perform their skills and apply them in clinical. This help to promotes patient safety at patient beside.

Mt. SAC Food Pantry

  • Free food is available for you or your family. Call 211 or visit Food Finder and enter your address to find local pantries where you can get free groceries, no questions asked. 
  • Students, the CalFresh program is California's food stamps (SNAP) program. You can apply and may be eligible to receive up to $194 a month per household member on an EBT card. CalFresh food benefits can be used online to buy groceries at Walmart or Amazon. For more information, please visit: CalFresh
  • Spend $35 or more on groceries and get home delivery for free. Apply at Get CalFresh or call 1-866-613-3777
  • Moms and families with children may be eligible to receive EBT cards that can help pay for food. Visit WIC California or call 1-888-WIC-WORKS to learn about WIC (assistance available for moms and children under 5)
