Yashar Rahbar, Psy.D.

Hi. My name is Yashar Rahbar, I am a clinical and forensic psychologist. I am so excited to have joined the psychology department at Mt. SAC. I always knew helping others was a passion of mine, hence why I decided to become a therapist. However, I fell in love with teaching when I started working as an adjunct faculty at Fullerton College. I realized that guiding and supporting students in reaching their highest potentials and overcoming systemic and personal barriers was even more rewarding to me. I enjoy forming real and genuine relationships with others and believe we are all connected at a higher level. It is my honor to be part of my students’ journey and I take this responsibility very seriously.

 

I obtained my A.A. in Social Sciences from Fullerton College and my B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. I attended Azusa Pacific University (APU) and received my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Psychodynamic Systems of Psychotherapy. As a forensic psychologist, I have worked in different settings such as, San Quentin State Prison, Napa State Hospital, and Patton State Hospital. I have worked with people suffering from severe mental illness who have been incarcerated as a result of committing serious offenses, such as murder or great bodily injury. In addition to my forensic experience, I have provided therapy in variety of settings such as, Harbor UCLA Hospital, Straight Talk Community Counseling, and Omid Multicultural Institute for Development. I enjoy working with diverse clients that experience a variety of mental health and life challenges. I currently have a small caseload of clients at Galvan Psychology Group, Inc.

 

I like spending time with family (including furry ones) and friends, walking in nature, playing basketball, swimming, playing my bass guitar, and watching comedy cartoons and other interesting or funny shows.
