Eugene Mahmoud

Eugene Mahmoud is a professor of engineering in the Department of Physics and Engineering at Mt. San Antonio College.  Professor Mahmoud is a creative educator committed to excellence in project-based technical instruction and increasing access to STEM careers. He is involved in several ongoing projects to enhance academic support services for engineering transfer students, and to develop nationally accredited certificates and degrees for engineering technicians.

 Prior to his appointment at Mt. SAC, Professor Mahmoud was a credentialed career technical education instructor, and has a variety of secondary and post-secondary education teaching experience.  Professor Mahmoud has served as an instructor for the John Hopkins University Engineering Innovation Program since 2014 and as a site director at Mt. SAC since 2017.  He has been active in the outreach and mentorship of low-income, underrepresented and non-traditional STEM students through the Society of Women Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, the Society of Physics Students, and VEXU Robotics.

Outside of higher education, Professor Mahmoud has designed, fabricated and tested a novel, programmable, dynamic, overhead camera mount in partnership with an entertainment industry venture.  Additionally, he has been training, performing and teaching capoeira under the supervision of the legendary master, Mestre Amern Santo, director of the Brasil Brasil Cultural Center and founder of Capoeira Batuque.
