Continuing Education Accreditation
2009 WASC ACS Initial Application
In February 2008 Continuing Education began an application process seeking recognition of its adult education programs by the WASC Accrediting Commission of Schools (ACS). Accreditation by WASC is essential for high school course credits within Continuing Education to be certified as a-g approved by the University of California system. This certification is also mandated for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recognition of the high school courses offered in the Division. Additionally, accreditation through WASC ACS supports the Planning for Institutional Effectiveness process with planning, implementation, and monitoring of program improvements throughout Continuing Education.
On April 30, 2009 WASC ASC officially granted Continuing Education a three year initial accreditation term. Continuing Education has since completed a full self-study assessment of its adult education programs and has a six-year status of accreditation extending through June 30, 2018.
